Two poems by Julia Wong Kcomt
“Coração de pele” and the untitled poem are translations of poems by tusán/Chinese Peruvian writer Julia Wong Kcomt from the collections Lectura de manos en Lisboa and Ladrón de codornices. These poems were published online in the Spring 2020 “Insurgent Tongues” folio of The Margins’ Transpacific Literary Project. Translated from Spanish. Published bilingually.
The Transpacific Literary Project, from the Asian American Writers’ Workshop’s The Margins, holds a space for writing and translation from East and Southeast Asia, shared in ways that may reorient reader relationships to languages and literatures. TLP’s “Insurgent Tongues” folio interrogates the insurgent nature of language and languages of (counter)insurgency while working to unsettle the absoluteness of power in all forms.
